About

My love of nature, travel, children, animals and a lifelong curiosity about the human condition inform my paintings. I believe that life is colorful, transitory and constantly renewing of itself.

Art is also a form of meditation. Some of my paintings are conceived over time  – “gestated” as it were, and birthed when the “children” are fully formed.

I work in all mediums – watercolor and oil botanicals, graphite, acrylic and oil portraits, watercolor and oil landscapes. My commissioned works are in private collections and law firms.

I was born in Malaysia and now live and work in the nation’s capital. Whilst raising my children, I studied with the Corcoran School of Art in the Associate Degree Program, gaining proficiency in drawing, acrylic and oil painting. In 1988, I received a scholarship from the La Napoule Foundation and spent three weeks painting in La Napoule, Nice and Vence in France.

Art is a wonderful vehicle for self expression in the young and old. I believe that it should be introduced to children at the earliest possible age. I taught art in elementary and middle schools in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles. When time and opportunity permit, I also enjoy teaching private students.

I have volunteered in the pediatric units of hospitals, nursing homes and Alzheimers groups where Art is an integral part of the rehabilitative program. Another gratifying part of my week is spent volunteering as a docent in a D.C. art museum, THE KREEGER MUSEUM. I also spend two days at a parochial school assisting in classrooms and in their art program.

On November 5, 2021, I exhibited at the Washington Arts Club in Washington, D.C.  The exhibit was entitled “REFLECTIONS” which included oil landscapes predicated on memories and my travels.
